I really like the patterns & repetition, especially in the 2nd & 3rd photos. Very effective.

I like the last one too, with the trees framing the picture. I was thinking of the Carillion for architecture photos too! There are some interesting buildings around Canberra. It will be fun, since it’s not something I’ve really photographed before.

Really interesting photos Kalista! What is the building in the first couple of photos? I agree with Emma - the patterns of the 2nd and 3rd ones are great!

Gorgeous shots Kalista. I always enjoy your interpretation on the subject. Hard to choose a favourite. The last one is cool with the public art in the foreground along with carillion and then the eagle spire at russell in the background too.

Thanks for your comments! The building with the patterned ceiling is the National Gallery. I went there for the first time on Thursday and was impressed by some of the neat exhibits. I wanted to take some photos inside, but unfortunately no photography is allowed. Anyway, thanks again!

These are great! I tried to take some photos on the NGA for artificial light but was told NO. bummer.
Looks like you might have had texture on the brain for a couple of these. I love the pattern of the roof but my favourite is that third photo where you have framed the little garden area with the concrete columns.
I also really like the last one. It's a different way of viewing the carillon than I would have thought of and it's framed nicely by the trees.
I like the point about the defense eagle. I used to able to see the parliament spire, telstra tower spire and the big church on state circle spire from my old place and always thought that could make a cool pic. You've done just that here but with different 'spires'. monuments/spires are very canberra I guess. so many to choose from :)

Thanks for your nice comment Johanna! I laughed when I read the first part because I was about to taking a picture inside the NGA and a guard came running over with a stern "NO." I had no idea and i told him that i was just taking pictures of the ceiling and the seemed to think I was crazy! Why would you take pictures of the ceiling rather than all the cool artifacts. Anyway, those photos were actually taken of the outside ceiling, but the inside ceiling was really cool! I'm glad you like the last photo, I couldn't tell if the sculpture in the photo added too much to the photo and made it distracting.

I find it interesting since we have been contributing to the blog that we are looking at things in a new light. I would never have thought to photograph the ceiling of the art gallery, but it looks really effective with the triangular patterns. I think I like the second one best. (dont know why?) I do like the last one too with the carrilion.
