Bindi - Street Photography

One from early October...

I have been struggling to get a day to take any photos as it has been grey and cold here for weeks. So decided to make the most of the greyness...

These are great! I'm a huge fan of b&w street photography, so I think what you have done works really well.

I love the feel to the first one - the lady sweeping the leaves really makes it for me. The focus point is in the middle of the photo - could have been better if it was on the people, or on the pole in the foreground, or by using a larger f.stop...eg f8 or f10 to have more in focus. (But if you're like me & try to be inconspicuous while taking the photo, you wouldn't have been looking through the viewfinder? ;)

The splash of yellow is great in the last one. I also love the buildings & trees lining the street.

I really love the feel the leaves give to these pictures. It feels movie like.
Love the golden edit on the lower picture!

Hah! The focus wasn't where I wanted it in the first one. I took three very quickly trying to catch the sweeping without her noticing that some freaky person was taken her picture. I was actually trying to get the hydrant in focus. Was fun though. I hope I get more time this week to try out some more.

Isn't it cool how black and white gives it a much more arty feel?

I really like both photos.

I think the first photo could benefit from a slightly angled crop. There seems to be a slight lean to the right in the post and tree, which I would rectify.

I think the second photo is great with the selective colouring, BUT, I'm also having mental angst about the leaf colouring. I'll explain more when I post my shots because I've got this issue - do I partially color or don't I?

Great work - Adam

LOVE LOVE LOVE the early October picture the perspective the buildings create is so fantastic! At first I didn't realise it was Mia and ? but also Simon and Charlie boy on his shoulders! I think anyway. LOVE them in b & w too, it makes me notice the texture of the ground more, the rustic stone of the building. Much nicer than wheelie bins!

I was wondering if anyone would notice it was a holiday snap! It is in Munich. That is Simon's sister with Mia (she is in Tuggeranong Ward).

My favourite of the three is the one with sue and mia walking. I like how the people are staggered and think that the way sue's head is positioned (in conversation with Mia) really makes this photo feel like a moment that's frozen in time. The textures of the bricks and footpath and road add a lot and it has a very good street feel. Nice one.
I like the way you highlighted the golden leaves in the last one (also with a bit of green to balance, I just noticed. It would have been a good seasons shot as well.
I hope you enjoyed your trip to London. Did you take any more good street photos. I don't know I'll get any done in time. You have to be creative in Canberra....it's not so 'street' (meaning urban).

I really love the first photo and love the stone wall and the patterns in the footpath. I agree with Johanna, love the way Sue is looking towards Mia in conversation. The feel of the middle one is great. I like the lady sweeping, and I do like the hydrant in the bottom of the photo. I like the last photo too, what a shame people have to graffiti the walls etc!! But I think it adds to the photo.
