I'm not usually a fan of selective colouring (I find it a bit cheesy :) Although, I really liked it in your "By the Roadside" photo & Bindi's Street Photog shot. I think I would prefer just B&W for your first shot...

I like the poster. "Clean Energy for Eternity"...I wonder how they plan on achieving that?! The depth of field is good - the focus on the poster, but then I'm still aware of the people on the path & am looking at what they are doing.

I really like the last one. Very emotive. I just feel so sorry for the little girl! I am wondering why she is so upset. Great capture.

I was struggling with the "selective colouring". I'd originally had the photo as black & white, but wanted to highlight the bride who was actually on a red carpet they put out for her. After having done that version, I realised that the bridesmaids were actually more of the focus in my opinion, and so changed to that version.
I'll actually load the straight B&W version in to the post ...

I was actually wondering why it wasn't the bride in colour - so it was good hearing your opinion. You could post both edits if you want - its just a matter of taste, and others may prefer the selective colour. Which do you prefer?

FYI, a post on our blog about trying to decide which version of the first photo to use ... http://aeeast.blogspot.com/2009/11/mind-of-amateur-photographer.html

I saw both versions of your first photo. I am in two minds, I do think I prefer the black and white one though. I do like the blue and yellow in the second photo though. I love the way you have focussed on the poster and the grunginess of the pole it is posted onto. I also like the background and the fact that we can see the people and the bins etc. My all time favourite is the last one. Awww!! Is she tired, hot or sad??!! I bet it is the end of a long hot day. I think it is great that this photo tells us such a story!! Love it!!
