Critique - which do you prefer?

Would like some feedback on these two if anybody is still reading. Two versions of the same photo. One with a soft blur and greater contrast, and the other with sharper detail. Which do you prefer?

I like different elements of both. I do like the softness of the 2nd one - but the highlights are a bit distracting.

I like the darker canopy in the first one, but wish it was a bit lighter on Seth - to draw the focus on him.

That wasn't really much help, was it!
It is a great photo! :)
