Nature-Kalista

Posted by Picasa

I know, these aren't very original and people have already posted bird and leaf shots. I planned on going out today to look for something unique but I forgot until it was already dark. Anyway, this has also been a fun topic, and there have been so many amazing pictures posted!

That soft effect with the galahs is so pretty. Works really well the colours.

Nice photos. I really like the colours in them. They are very earthy (with a splash or red in the top two obviously) and golden. Did you take them in early or late light? The light in the middle one in particular is beautiful.
The depth of field is really nice and good composition too.

I love the blur in the birds pic! It is very "romantic". Did you get the blur from the lens, or did you photoshop it afterwards? I probably would have liked to get the second bird in focus too, and have a photo of the "lovebirds" - sort of reminds me of an old photo of two people, you know how they make them look nostalgic with the blurry background?

Wow Kalista, I love all of these! I do like the birds and I love the soft feel to that photo too. The last one is great. I love the white veins that are still so prominent even though the leaf has withered.

So clear and fantasy sort of based. Gorgeous!

Thanks for your comments everyone! :) I agree Mel that the picture of the Galah would have looked good without such a shallow depth of field so that the other Galah would be in focus. The blurry effect isn't natural, I added that in with iphoto. :) Johanna, i took them in evening light, but the color in the middle photo isn't natural either.

I like the last 2. I agree with Johanna - your photos have a lovely earthy feel to them.

I dont find the backgrounds distracting (as you mentioned in Akasha's comment) The shallow dof and the sharp focus on the subject removes it from the background for me - so I think it works well.
