I love the details on the buildings in Vienna. Every building seems to have something on it to make it a bit more pretty. These photo are with my point and shoot camera as I walked to pick up the kids from school.
These first two pictures are from the same building.
Lots of graffiti here...same in every city I think. I like the 1930s feel to the garage.
The mix of old and new isn't always great. I originally cropped out the sign but then you don't get the right feel for this building. This details on this one are great...then the bright yellow Billa sign for the supermarket on the ground floor.
Urania isn't a very old building (1910) but it is lovely. It is a kino (cinema).

WOW, I STILL can't believe this is right outside your doorstep!!!!! I really like the composition of all of your photos Bindi, great angles of really intersting buildings! Too bad about the shadow on the Billa sign... don't know if it would have been better at another time of day, but you're right that it looks better without the Billa cropped out - makes the photo look more complete to have it, and I guess it sort of takes the focus of the sign and more on the features of the photo.
I was just looking at the Billa foto and wondering what time of day it would have to be for no shadow. Funny to read your comment after just thinking that Mel! It is a narrow street so I am not sure if I could get it shadowless unless it was midday. Will try :)
I agree that these could be better without shadow. Is there a time of day where it is all in shadow? Or maybe try on an overcast day?
I love all the details in these and the middle two are cool.
How do you chose what angle you are going to photograph from? Some are on an angle and some are straight on.
A feast for the eyes!

PS love the yellow building!
Such awesome buildings – you must be having so much fun in Vienna!
With the Billa photo, I’d like to see it straight on & getting the whole boarder around the building to frame the photo.
I really love the look of the last building too. Maybe having more space on the left side & seeing all the letters around the top would give the photo a roomier feel. I love the columns & lines in that one.
I cant decide which one I like the best :) I think I am leaning towards the top one. I love the rusty ironwork above the door. Also like the look of the old wooden door too.
