Getting in quickly before I go to bed! I didn't get what I was planning this fortnight....but here are some from Tuesday evening when the sky was looking good, and I thought it would create a different atmosphere for photos of these well known Canberra buildings :)

What great pictures! I'm so conditioned to the usual pictures of parliament house - LOVE this one it makes it feel "new" again.
The colours in the botton picture are so stricking, like a space ship!

They are great. Both could be used for the new topic too!
So beautiful! You did an excellent job with both of these! Bindi is right that they could be used for the new topic too! Also, you should submit them to the posters from your community photo competition!
I love the photo of Parliament House. I have just looked at it full screen and the detail is beautiful. From the Coat of Arms at the front to the interior windows and balcony thing. I love the splash of colour in the sky too.
I like the National Museum too and like how you have caught the lights on the outside wall (reflected too in the water). (Telstra Tower looks cool too)
These are really really great photos! You should enter both in that competition! And what a nice lead in to the new topic.
The sky looks great in both photos. The first one makes me think of the approaching storm from ghost busters, but I like how it feels it is approaching (or departing? you've picked up the clear sky with a hint of colour to the right. that bit of colour works really well too in a very steely photo) and the flag is blowing perfectly. So often that flag is limp. The reflection is very effective too. Very moody and the lighting is great too.
Same for the second pic, though my favourite thing about the second photo is the reflection. It works really well. It was funny you captured this because I just noticed for the first time the other night that they light it with spots....that may just show I don't get out at night much.
Both look more amazing big.
also, what kind of lens did you use for that first one?
Thanks everyone! I wasn't sure if the subjects were a bit predictable/Canberran, but I chose the time of day well - which definitely makes them better photos.
I only realised the spots on the museum last week too! I think they must change the lights they use. I have night photos of the museum from a few years ago & it looks very different.
I used my 18-70mm lens...it's just a pov kit lens, but my only wide angle...for the moment ;)
I love these pics emma, but the parliament house one is so emotive (contrasting to what the building is all about hehe). I really love the clouds in the sky and the sort of gloomy colours, it somehow makes the front face of the building stand out more, and the reflection looks awesome :) Definately submit it for the comp!!! I think it's very different from the "ordinary" tourist shots :)
