So, a little bit about myself - I have a 9 year old daughter - Jayde. Earlier in the year she took a digital photography course for kids and really enjoyed it. We'd given her our old digital "point and shoot" camera recently when we bought a new one. I was mentioning to my boss at work that I needed to get a "proper" camera so that I could teach Jayde more about photography - he offered to give us his old Canon 400D. It has a lot of marking on the sensor, and won't work on some of aperture settings, but is otherwise OK. So, over the last 3 months I've been teaching myself how to try and use a proper camera, and occasionally letting Jayde use it too. Have an older copy of Photoshop and have started getting more familiar with that as well. I haven't really settled into any particular style of photo yet, although I tend to avoid photographing people if I can help it.
I've started putting some of my photos up onto Deviant Art at http:\\aeast.deviantart.com to try and get some feedback. These are my three most popular photos on DeviantArt so far:
I'm looking forward to joining in with the photo challenges. Kalista - thanks for the suggestion. Emma - thanks for letting me join :)

Welcome Adam!! Love you photos & can't wait to see your style evolve.
It is good to see your work. I love the three you have here and your others on deviantART!! When were you in Monument Valley?? I think that is one of my favourite places!!! When I went through, it was midday, (very hot and sunny) so my photos were not that good!
Welcome! and looking forward to seeing your interpretation of the topics! :)
I'm so happy you've joined our fun group and can't wait to see more of your photos! I love the three you posted! The first two are simply gorgeous and I love the moodiness and mystery in the third one. I look forward to seeing your style evolve too. :)
Thanks very much for the welcomes :)
Helen - Elissa and I went to the US in Oct 07 for 2 weeks - left the kids back here with her parents. Toured the "Grand Circle" as well as going to Conference in Salt Lake City. Fantastic time. Loved Monument Valley - we did a morning tour, and it was actually pretty cold first thing in the morning. Only had a "point & shoot" camera back then, and not really photo-minded, but couldn't help but take some great shots due to how spectacular the scenery was rather than any photo skills from me :)
HI, I'm new here too. :)
