Johanna: Motion

I never got around to doing motion because I had a lot on but I remember seeing a picture of a person standing in front of a moving bus and I tried to take something similar here. Without the fabulous colours or sharply focused person or nice lighting, but an attempt nonetheless. These were done without a tripod and in a hurry. So go easy :)

I like how the moving object (the train) becomes kind of see-through, you can still see the blue strips that tell you name of the station etc...

Melbourne would be (should have been) a great place to take architecture photos but I always had two cranky kids with me and didn't really manage to give it a good go. (the ones I could think to compose were taken in Federation square but they all look to predictable and a bit touristy, which I think can be a trap of taking photos in a category like this, especially when one is on holiday). I took these two when I was waiting for my tram on Bourke St.

I took this one because it reminded me of the photo Bindi took with the tram lines (which I really liked).

(I liked the colours with the green in the windows. Other photos I took picked up the colours better but they don't look quite straight. Something about too many lines and not being close enough maybe?

(I just wanted to share these photos I got from a walk around the rocks I took when we were at Apollo Bay. We went just as this topic was ending and so it was on my mind.)

I wasn't sure which one to post of these next two. Any thoughts? Do you like it closer up?

Johanna again (sorry, but this subject is just too much fun)

I tried to take some vampire photos with my camera using a tripod, long shutter speeds and a match to get a 'glow' affect but without much success. The mug shots only created horrible shadows behind my head and on my face. The profile ones worked a bit better. Maybe i'll try tomorrow with a different light source.

This is the best of the lot (there was a lot of running to the light switch, running into position and trying to light the match and get in shot before the time ran out etc...)

Then I saw Emma's post and wanted to have a go. I tried to think of what light I could use and remembered Charlie has these little finger lights in lots of different colours (the same ones I sent you Bindi). Two hours and 1000 pictures later...here is a taste. (We had so much fun because we had the music turned up and everyone had lights on and it was like a disco!)

I am only just discovering the joys of the tripod and am loving it. This is a very fun topic. I haven't even ventured into the night yet. Can we do heaps of posts per assignment?

Artificial Light - Johanna (in case you can't tell from the pics)

In my home, we spend a fair amount of time looking at the computer.

At night, we tend to use it night without any other light source and so it glows on our faces.

Since this light is artificial, I thought i'd use it for my assignment.

i used photo booth and the computer camera to take these. Also, they are two different pictures, not the same picture photo-shopped.

i tried very hard to pose exactly the same way.

I took this photo in early morning light earlier in the week

(I have another one I tried with Peppa but the shadow goes

right down the middle of her face and it looks quite funny)

and then it was cloudy for the rest of the week (!!!!) so I wasn't able to take the other photo I had planned.

But, if you are interested, it was going to be something kind of like this.
